Published on 31 August 2026 in the scientific journal Clinical Optometry, a study conducted in Mumbai, India,
provides new data on the use of the Visiolite® 4K for vision screening among professional drivers.
The research team at Lotus College of Optometry and Lotus Eye Hospital compared the device’s results with those
obtained using clinical reference tests in 384 drivers.
Reduced screening time
Among the 288 participants whose examination times were recorded, the test battery was completed in an average
of 7 minutes with the Visiolite® 4K, compared with 20 minutes using conventional methods, representing a 65%
reduction under the study conditions.
The authors also report good agreement with reference tests for distance visual acuity.
Findings relevant to occupational health
These findings support the device’s use in occupational health screening and field-based screening programmes. The
authors emphasise that it is intended for screening and does not replace a diagnostic examination. They also
highlight limitations regarding colour vision testing and the validation of peripheral visual field assessment.
We thank the research team for this work, which contributes to our clinical evaluation efforts and our commitment
to supporting healthcare professionals with solutions tailored to their practice.
